Hey guys,

I'm currently composing the soundtrack for a friend-o-mine's video game called Spirit Quest. Essentially it's an Okami-like system (draw symbols on screen) mixed with a Mega Man type platformer engine.

So far I've got two levels sort of "done," or at least, headed in the right direction.

At my website: www.bonsteelaudio.com
Under "Clips" are a few of the tracks I've composed.

"Greek Woods" and "Bamboo Forest" are the tracks I'd like some feedback on.. I'm doing this kind of Donkey Kong Country 2 thing with them, but I feel like there's a little missing from the pieces to really make them "solid."

Any constructive comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I first want to say Bonsteel, is that what an amazing job you do with your music. It's melodic, atmospheric and produced to such a professional level, it's really incredible stuff. I believe you are heading the right direction and as long as you take advantages of any opportunities that come your way and make some of your own luck, you should be able to make it into the video game music business with no problems.

As for your songs, they are amazing. I believe Greek Woods is solid and nothing needs to be changed on that. It's such an incredible piece. Bamboo Forest is just as awesome. The only thing on the song I didn't care for was the "flute" like instrument at the very beginning of the song. It just felt a little overwhelming and thought it wasn't needed, but that's just my opinion.

Other than that, I thought they were both awesome pieces of music and I can tell you put a lot of work into these songs. Very well done, I enjoyed them very much!

The songs sounds very ambiant, and very good. Without seeing the game it's hard to say if they will marry well with the environment (which is what is the most important), but I'm pretty confident they will.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I discussed the tracks with my programmer, and he digs them.

I'll probably throw a few other tracks I'm currently working on up there soon; if you guys are available to comment on them as well, that'd be awesome.

Very cool! I dig the mix of ambient and "world" sounds with the techno keyboards (love the sines and squares). Reminds me of anime or Japanese games.

Personally, I'm not too keen on the distorted kicks, especially on Bamboo Forest. It doesn't seem to fit in with the nicely produced sound the rest of the track has.

Other than that, very well done! I wish you all the best.
