Back in July I was lucky enough to go see Distant Worlds twice in San Francisco. It was such an amazing experience hearing professional musicians play some of your favorite music. Even getting to see Nobou Uematsu in attendance was exciting!
Has anyone else had a chance to go? If you haven't, I recommend you do so when they come around your town! |

Never come across Distant Worlds before - is Uematsu part of the band? Didn't he have a band called the Black Mages? If he (or they) ever toured in the UK I'd be sure to catch a show!

I live in Northern Alberta in a town some musicians tend to avoid. Closest big center where something like that MIGHT happen is 4 hrs. away.
And if Uematsu were to tour there I'd quit my job and WALK there if I had to.

Distant Worlds is actually a orchestra that performs Final Fantasy music. While Uematsu isn't actually in the orchestra per say, he showed up to the performances and sat in the audience. It was pretty cool. While I'm not familiar with the guy who runs it, I know that he is a well accomplished musician.
Uematsu is in the Black Mages, which I freaking love. I don't know if they'll come to the states, but I'm all over it if they do!

I've been. It was in Seattle in the summer of '09, and it was possibly the most fun I've ever had in my life. Uematsu sang in the One Winged Angel chorus! And they did the opera scene from FF6 which was preposterously amazing.
I don't know that Distant Worlds is coming back around here any time soon, though Play! A Video Game Symphony (which I've also been to once before, though it wasn't quite as good as DW) is going to be around this summer in Seattle so I'll be going to that.
